I would guess that a side effect of all this nonsense with the new LP's is that it will drive up the prices on the used ones. With that new 2014 Epiphone everything was perfectly equal on the bridge pickup, but I did need to adjust the screw on the neck pickup up just a little on the top e string to make that equal to the other strings, as it wasn't hot enough. Perhaps Epiphone has made changes since I tested.at the time the Gibsons were easier to play and did not require fiddling with bass, mid, and treble on the amp in order to equalize across all 6 strings.effectively the Gibson sounded good regardless of amp setting. Difficult for me to play without lots of unwanted finger noises. The hot treble strings resulted in lots of finger/string noises. Did not have that problem on the Gibsons.Ģ. Treble strings were too hot on the Epiphones.had to really crank down the treble on the amp to get equalization across all 6 strings.

PU difference I noticed between the LP Trad Pro and the numerous Epiphones I tried two years ago were as follows:ġ. The acoustics are cool too, and some of the cheaper ones, like the J-15, are good value. Gibson's jazz boxes are still really nice, and respectful of the company's history. Maybe they make so much money anyway on Historics and fake Relic LP's that they just don't care anymore. If they drive budget-minded Les Paul players to Epiphone, they still end up making money. Then again, younger players may not care at all about what we boomers think a Gibson Les Paul should be. Maybe they're consciously giving the finger to their older, middle-class, and lower income customers for some reason.

You're really gonna have to pay through the nose for a basic, traditional LP by going full custom, or getting into one of the reissues. It has a composite fretboard, which doesn't bother me, but I have a nice LP Standard already. The only model that was spared the G-force system and the pickguard was the Supreme, but it's $6599 MAP. Can't imagine Les being on board with those if he was still around. and hologram are just goofy as can be, and completely superfluous. wait a few seconds and you're tuned to whatever tuning you desire. What on earth are Gibson thinking about? It's hard to say, but it makes Martin's occasional missteps look like nothing. Just set what tuning you want and strum the guitar. but the Gibson Min-Etune actually physicllay turns the tuners. I thought Peavey had an electronic version of this.

Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning system that is hardly visible from the front of the guitar and allows you to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own! Perfect for home, studio and gigging - it even adjusts your guitar's tunings to match other instruments' with the reference tuning feature. I tried to put a link in here, but the site shut it down - just google "american musical gibson min etune"

Have you guys seen this Les Paul with auto-tuning setup? How well does this work?
